There is a daily - except Sundays and holydays - guided tour to the abbey at 2 p.m. Unfortunately it is only in German.

The Diorama Bethlehem claims to possess the largest Christmas Crib in the world.

The Christmas market of Einsiedeln starts on Friday evening before the first Advent Sunday and lasts till the second Advent Sunday.

Einsiedeln's cattle exhibition is supposed to be the largest in central Switzerland. It takes place on the Tuesday before September 29 (St Michael).

"Schafböcke" is a traditional pilgrims biscuit that makes an ideal small present for the folks back home.
