Heidi's Restaurant Guide
The restaurant situation in Einsiedeln has not improved in recent years, quite the contrary: several "good value" restaurants have disappeared.
Gourmets only need to know one place: the Restaurant Linde at the abbey square. Gault-Millau awarded it with 14 points.
Pizza fans will have no trouble finding a pizzeria: there is one at every other corner. There is little difference in quality, so I do not bother to recommend one.
For lovers of the Asian cuisine there are two Asian restaurants on the main street and an other one just below the hotel "Drei Könige".
Most restaurants offer traditional cuisine. Don't expect culinary highlights.
The Bistro Tulipan offers daily changing menus of varying quality combinded with the sight of the abbey. The pasta of the Restaurant / Pizzeria Romantica on the first floor of the same building deserves a recommendation.
If you are short of money or in a hurry you can get your meal at one of the Take-Aways. Döner and the like can be found at the "Krone" located on the main street. Broggi's Take-Away has Swiss Bratwurst, "Schnitzelbrot" (a pork steak served like a hot dog) and other quick meals. You'll find him right at the top of the abbey square, opposite the Paracelsus monument (a woman with two children).
You think the culinary offer is not very enticing? Unfortunately I can not disagree.
