Schafböcke
Although 'Schafböcke' literally means 'rams', I do not suggest that you open up a sheep farm. In our case the name stands for a traditional pilgrim's biscuit, that is made from flour, water, honey and spices and comes in the shape of a resting lamb (the lamb of god).
It is sold in the bakeries on the abbey square and along the Hauptstrasse (main street).
Now you surely want to know where to find the best Schafböcke. Unfortunately I can't answer you this question: I don't eat Schafböcke! Instead I prefer the filled gingerbread, particularly the white ones which are a Einsiedeln exclusivity.
